Jon Wesley – JWDJ Upcoming Events January 2010
Here are some of my upcoming events (so far) for January. A lot of these are free parties so come out and get down with us.
I’m excited about the Dragon Lounge 12 year Anniversary again at Kava as part of their 5 year anniversary. No cover.
I’ll be doing live digital art again at Basic this Tuesday the 12th. No cover.
I’m playing an early happy hour set at a new monthly called Sleaze Pleaze at El Dorado Bar Thursday the 14th. No cover.
I’ll be at my monthly jam at Hive Sushi (14th and C Street 7pm-10pm) Thursday 1.21
Then a special set at the next Gina Rene performance as part of Kava Lounge’s 5 year anniversary on the 22nd:

Recording from WID 12.19 Rashi, Unite, Beatnick
On 12.19 we had Rashi and Unite of Tribe of Kings and Beatnick of Sleeping Giant Music. All three are talented San Diego djs who each play to hundreds of people each week. They all brought excellent music for our Wind It Down party and luckily we recorded almost all of it. So enjoy nearly three hours of music from our recorded sessions.

Wind It Down 12.5 Featuring Marcus B, Duane, Jon Wesley
Welcome back Marcus B! We’re excited to feature Marcus B’s return to dj culture. He’s been rocking with his band Sir Splendid for awhile now. They are doing great but the itch to wreck wax has returned. Marcus will be playing classic hip-hop, ragga hip-hop beats, downtempo and classic rock. This man has serious talent behind the decks so you will not want to miss it.

We’re excited to have Duane play a special afterhours set. He does the deep house very well but he can also rock the downtempo styles!

Wind It Down Every Saturday Night
Check out some of San Diego’s finest, playing downtempo grooves this week for our first official party. We gave you a preview last week for Halloween, now it’s time to get this thing going.
$5 at the door unless you are on the list. Want to be on the list? Get in touch with the djs or email jon@jonwesleydj.com for guestlist consideration.
This Saturday night event is an attempt to offer styles of music that are not readily available at other venues. Downtempo music in this case means a more relaxing style of music. It could be disco, funk, soul, house, breaks, electro, techno, Latin, afrobeat, pop or anything else. It will not be loud, fast and noisy. Dancing is always encouraged but relaxing and meeting new people is the primary goal. We will offer refreshments in some form and we will be open late so we hope that members and their friends will come by and hang out with us in order to assure that they can drive home safely later on. This is not a nightclub, it is a new music adventure with a focus on the arts.

The Radio program on groove247.com: In addition to the event we will be broadcasting some of our favorite music Saturday nights on groove247.com. This broadcast is for the late-nighters who want good music to accent their comfort at home. It is also designed for people who go out and later invite their friends over to wind down in a comfortable setting. We will provide the soundtrack, you provide the ears. We plan to develop a live stream from the party and maybe even some games allowing people at home to interact with the people at the party in the near future.
Membership: The membership concept is not an attempt to be elitist. It is a program to interact on a more personal level with the people who are interested in what we do. By becoming a member of this movement you will be able to bring yourself and 5 other guests with you on any Saturday; you will get access to discounted tickets for special events; we will offer free music downloads from our dj/producer friends; and you will get access to live recordings from the party, and downloads of the music you hear on groove24/7. We will also offer giveaways and special offers to our members. Member fees will vary from $5 per week ($20 paid in advance once a month), to one-time trials for $5, barter memberships (for people who trade services with us) and deluxe packages that will include event dinners, clothing and products, original music and more. Kava Fun Raiser This Saturday at the Warehouse
The Kava Lounge is one of my favorite venues. I feel at home there. They are having a fundraiser at The barrio Warehouse this Saturday from 8pm-4am with live music, djs, tostadas and great drinks. I think this may be the last party there. Don’t miss it. Last time I played there along with Dub Traffik Control for Gage’s birthday and it was a packed, sweaty, hot mess. In a good way. I will miss this spot.

Monday Dub Mondays at The Office. I love this night and I’m excited they asked me to play again so soon. I’ll be jamming with my fellow guest Atom Matter, plus resident djs Rashi and Ediie Turbo. this is a fun party that’s been going strong on Mondays for 5 years +.
Coming up next Saturday Kava Lounge is doing its own “Fun Raiser” again at the warehouse. The line-up is very diverse and the music will be great. You can build your own tostadas and the bar will be in full effect. This will be a great party. Come down and donate to support one of the city’s finest and most unique venues. Dub Mondays at The Office August 17th
Dub Dynamite has been going strong for 5 years. It”s a specialty club that features reggae, dub, roots and modern sounds. They even throw in a little dub step now and then. I played there a couple months ago and we has a great time since it”s a reunion with me Eddie Turbo and Atom matter from our 3THW party that ended in 2008. Come through, it”s free and the music will be great.

Wind It Down Update
Now the plan is to upgrade the focus of the broadcast on groove247.com and rally support to do some sort of party in the near future. Maybe on a Sunday during the day, maybe a silent disco somewhere maybe a party bus. Who knows.
